Barbara Froman studied voice and piano and holds degrees in music composition. She has worked in advertising and public relations, written fiction, non-fiction, drama, and poetry, placed in screenwriting competitions, and taught Creative Writing at Chicago area colleges and universities where she focused on the similarities between music and prose. In 2011, her novel, Shadows and Ghosts, received the Serving House Books/Fairleigh Dickinson University First Book Award in Prose, and was subsequently published by Serving House Books. In 2015, she was an Assistant Editor of (AFTER)life: Poems and Stories of the Dead, published by Purple Passion Press. She would like to post a photo of herself on this page, but she doesn’t have one she likes, so she selected this photo of her cactus…blooming at the wrong time of the year….
